Analysis Techniques for Racecar Data Acquisition

Data acquisition has become an invaluable tool for establishing racecar - and car/driver - performance. Now that the ability exists to analyze each and every performance parameter for car and driver, accurate use of this data can provide a key advantage on the racetrack. This book provides a thorough overview of the varied methods for analyzing racecar data acquisition system outputs, with a focus on vehicle dynamics.

"This is an important subject and an important book. There is only one other good book on subject and it's out of print and very expensive. I believe [this] book will be widely used by race teams everywhere for a long time. . .You only need this one book to do the analysis job, not several books. Every team needs this book."

Jorge Segers

With an educational background in automotive engineering, Jorge Segers has been involved with racing disciplines such as GT and sportscar racing, single seaters, and touring cars since 1998. He started with an apprenticeship at GLPK Carsport, a Belgian team active in international GT racing. Mr. Segers became the team manager only three years later. After finishing his studies, he was employed at BPR Competition Engineering as track engineer in the International Sports Racing Series and later as development manager at Eurotech Racing. At Eurotech, he was responsible for the GT racing activities of British sportscar manufacturer Marcos Cars. In 2001, Mr. Segers became the youngest team manager ever in an FIA organized championship. At GLPK Carsport, he is still responsible for the team’s activities and the FIA CT Championship. Subsequently, he has been working for other teams such as Henrik Roos Motorsports (FIA CT), Racing for Holland (Le Mans 24 Hours), and Carsport Modena. His interest in technical writing was triggered when he was asked to write part of the manual for a computer racing game for Simbin Development. A special interest in data acquisition and racecar performance optimization led him to write this book.
