John E. Dolce is an active fleet manager, consultant, author, and industrial instructor with more than 35 years of experience in car, truck, transit, mining, and equipment maintenance and operations. His background includes public and private fleets ranging from 100 to 18,000 vehicles with 24-hour, 7-day multishop and multistate operating locations. Mr. Dolce has helped thousands of management individuals and companies in the public and private sectors to implement cost efficiencies nationally and internationally during the past 30 years. Mr. Dolce earned an A.A.S. in auto and diesel technology from the State University of New York, Farmingdale, Long Island. He also earned a B.S. and an M.A. in industrial management, both from New York University, New York City. Since 1966, Mr. Dolce has worked as Operations Manager-Truck Training School for Rentar Educational Corporation in Long Island City, New York; Assistant Chief Engineer Fleet for Royal Globe Insurance Company in New York City; Director of Personnel, Safety, and Security for Wooster Express, Inc. in Windsor, Connecticut; Fleet Manager of 3,000 vehicles at the U.S. Postal Service in Newark, New Jersey; Fleet Manager of 5,500 vehicles for General Public Utilities in Parsippany, New Jersey; Vice President of Transit Maintenance for 400 transit buses for Liberty Lines, Inc. in Yonkers, New York; Vehicle and Facility Project Manager for Baker Engineering for five maintenance facilities, alternative-fuel equipped; Vice President and General Manager of Mail Contractors of America in Little Rock, Arkansas, for 1,800 vehicles; and Director Fleet Management Division for Essex County in Newark, New Jersey, for 1,000 vehicles. In addition to his current role as an active fleet manager and a private consultant, Mr. Dolce teaches seminars in fleet and facility management nationally and internationally for George Washington University, the University of Washington at Seattle, and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He also teaches fleet management in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the City University and the State University of New York. Mr. Dolce is a Trustee of the Equipment Managers Council of America, is active with the Association of Equipment Personnel and National Private Truck Council in their certification programs, and is on the Board of Directors of International Fleet Management, Inc. He is an SAE member and serves on various SAE committees. Other books authored by Mr. Dolce include Analytical Fleet Maintenance Management and Fleet Management.
