Roger F WellsDr. Wells has more than 35 years’ experience in automotive engineering. In 1980 he immigrated into the USA where his automotive career progressed through various engineering management roles with United Technologies, TRW Automotive, and BEI Technologies that included positions as VP General Manager for Duncan Electronics and VP Business Development for BEI Technologies. He has MBA and PhD degrees in business management, is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (U.K.), a holder of 5 U.S. Patents, and has published articles and technical reports in the Sensors Magazine and SAE International journals.
Dr. Wells has been in the forefront of advanced automotive technologies that include original microprocessor-controlled engine diagnostic systems, early 1990s implementations of airbag crash protection systems, and development of sensors for passenger vehicle stability control. With TRW Automotive, Dr. Wells was an expert witness where he provided independent technical support to automotive OEMs in their defense of lawsuits relating to airbag deployments.
Born in England, he was an engineer apprentice with Hawker Siddely Aviation and completed his undergraduate education in Mechanical Engineering. His early career was as an engineer for the United Kingdom Ministries of Technology and Defence, where he managed testing facilities for development of military fighting vehicles and aircraft fuel systems. |
